1. Overview
Pill Identifier is an informational reference app that helps you look up a medication from a photo of a pill. This policy explains what the app processes and what it doesn't. Pill Identifier does not provide medical advice, and we do not sell your data — to anyone, ever.
2. Photos You Scan
When you scan a pill, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend, which uses Google's Gemini vision models to attempt an identification. Photos are processed in real time and are not retained on our servers after the identification completes. Your scan photos and their results are stored locally on your device only, in your scan history, and you can delete them in the app at any time.
3. No Health Data Collection
We do not ask for, and our servers do not store, any personal health information. Your scan history — including which pills you have looked up — lives only on your device. We never build a profile of your medications and we never share or sell scan content to third parties.
4. Analytics and Crash Reporting
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app is used (for example, that a scan occurred or a screen was viewed) and to fix crashes. This involves device identifiers, usage events, and crash logs, used solely for app functionality and analytics. The app contains no third-party advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and managed through RevenueCat. We receive purchase status (for example, that a subscription is active) but never your payment details.
6. Medication Reminders
If you set medication reminders, the medication names, dosages, and times you enter are stored only on your device and used only to schedule local notifications. They are never uploaded.
7. Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn that information from a child under 13 has been collected, we will delete it.
8. Your Choices
You can delete any scan or your entire history in the app. You can disable analytics-related data collection by contacting us. To exercise any data request, email us at the address below.
9. Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new policy on our website and update the effective date. We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy regularly to stay informed about how we protect your information.
